Yellow Bordered Asian Tea and Willow - 14891
Early 19th century ceramic clay tile. Hand carved tile shows two men sharing tea in a siheyuan style house. The siheyuan is the common Chinese home of having four houses placed around a center courtyard or garden. The willow tree has been used to represent humility in the Asian culture. A very humble scene as tea is also used to show signs of respect, family gatherings, to apologize, show gratitude, or celebration. Yellow border with either blue or green used prominently in the center. All tiles are hand made and painted so slight bowing may appear as well as color variations
