A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US
Welcome to Recycling the Past. Our goal is to meet the needs of everyone from the do-it-yourself inclined, to contractors, renovators, designers, daydream believers and homecoming queens.

Here you will find an eclectic variety of treasures such as: Architectural antiques, mantles, stained glass windows, lighting fixtures (both interior and exterior), iron gates, and fencing. We have many garden implements such as furniture, urns, statuary, and fountains. Additionally, we carry a large selection of newel posts, gingerbread, molding, Victorian pieces, porches, and doors, doors, and more doors!

Could it be that you’re looking for windows, plumbing fixtures, columns, or hardware? We have them, too!!

All of our artifacts are carefully chosen for their authenticity and uniqueness. To assist you in creating and atmosphere that reflects your own individual style, we will work with you, and perhaps even plant a seed from which a new idea will grow.

We are family owned and operated. Recycling the Past has become one of the country’s leaders in its field. Our credo is that "NOTHING REUSABLE IS REFUSABLE."
BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
This all started about six years ago when I, Matthew White, was living in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and needed to find a way to supplement my income. I started taking old window sashes found in a friend’s barn and turned them into mirrors. To my delight, they sold like hot cakes! Being entrepreneurial like my father, Stephen, it only took a few phone calls home to convince him that we should start a business in New Jersey.

Now, six years later, we are established in the historical town of Barnegat, New Jersey, which is located forty five minutes north of Atlantic City, and an hour and a half from New York City.

We own a late nineteenth century house situated on a prominent one acre lot on Route 9, at 381 North Main Street.

Barnegat has become a haven for antique collectors.

We have designed a series of gardens to show everyone some of the ways to better utilize the items we sell.

This business is so much fun! We are always collecting new items to stimulate the senses and trigger the imagination. Our treasures come from cities and farms across the country.

We are constantly replenishing our inventory to ensure that our clients can always find new items. In our travels, we have come to believe that something new can be found around the next bend in the road.

The reason we both love this business is because we are always finding "treasures" for ourselves and others to enjoy.

Recycling The Past is devoted to Preservation and has donated time, resources, and expertise to preserving some of our national treasures. Here are some photos of Matt and his skilled crew removing 100 year old decorative friezes from a turn of the century theatre and local landmark in historic Asbury Park, New Jersey for the Historical Society.

WHAT A LONG STRANGE TRIP IT HAS BEEN, AND IT HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN...
